Our story began in 2018 after taking over Crepe & Co Rochester, nestled in the cobblestone area of Rochester just past College Gate, with Rochester Cathedral and Rochester Castle on our doorstep! The restaurant provided a very popular eatery and pit stop for many people. However, we soon realised there was a need to offer more than just Crepes and Waffles. Hence the dream and idea for Jaggers was born.
OUR DICKENSIAN DREAM
Unfortunately, in 2020 the pandemic hit us all hard. With Covid and two long lockdowns to get through, many plans were put on hold, including our dream of transforming our Crêpe restaurant into a Dickensian-inspired destination.
So instead, we focused on what we could do. We renovated the restaurant inside and out, creating a beautiful new interior and introducing a high-quality cocktail bar. Today, our bar serves more than 100 handcrafted cocktails made to order, with plenty of space for people to relax, celebrate and socialise.
Finally, towards the end of 2022, Jaggers became a reality. Our doors reopened with a new name, a fresh look, and a heartfelt connection to our beloved Dickensian city of Rochester.
And for those of you who have loved Crêpe & Co over the years - don’t worry, it’s still very much alive and part of Jaggers today. Our crêpes remain firmly on the menu, continuing the story that started it all.
The refurbishment of the restaurant has allowed us to offer more. We now provide one of the best coffee shops in Rochester, providing a high-end coffee service during the day using the finest illy coffee. We serve breakfasts in the morning and other brunch or lunch food items throughout the day . Our evening and weekend menu consists of small plates from around the world with a mix of Tapas, Asian and Greek or Middle Eastern and yes, we will still be doing delicious freshly made crepes and waffles.
REBRANDING
The rebranding came about not only because we had more to offer than crepes and waffles, but because we felt a connection with our vibrant City of Rochester and it's rich history. With the restaurant's position being so close to the resplendent Cathedral and right in the heart of Rochester, we wanted a name that would reflect it's history and an association with Charles Dickens, so visitors would feel welcome and at home when they arrived.
We have always loved Rochester, I had visited many times with my children when they were small and enjoyed all the delights the city had to offer and who wouldn't with it's history and rich culture around every corner!
The iconic landmarks of Rochester Cathedral and Rochester Castle are a glorious site to behold and we feel lucky that Jaggers overlooks the beautiful Cathedral. Jaggers is Nestled around a corner just off the High Street in central Rochester, if you follow the cobblestones under College Gate, you will find us tucked away and ready to serve you.
